Bispham Hall Scout Estate is run completely by volunteers. Without these volunteers the camp site would not be able to function or to put on great events such as the chariot race. We are desperate for new members to join our team to help with the maintenance of the site and to provide activity instruction to our vistors.

The Service Team is ideal for Explorer Scouts or members of Scout Network and the time they spend here, can be used towards many badges and awards such as Duke of Edinburgh.

Adults are more suited to join our Duty Warden team.

On Wednesday 28th February 2012 at 19:30, we will be holding a meeting for anybody who is interested in becoming a member of the Service Team or Duty Warden Team.

Chris Hayes – Workplace Hero!

Chris Hayes - Workplace Hero !

Chris Hayes, our Activities Co-ordinator, has been honoured by St John Ambulance by being awarded the Workplace Hero Award for his quick thinking in saving the life of a work colleague who collapsed and whose heart had stopped beating. Chris administered CPR for around twenty minutes until paramedics arrived on the scene. Chris’ actions saved the life of his co-worker, who was later diagnosed with arrhythmia and has since been fitted with an ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator).
Chris, who works for Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust, received his award at a prestigious ceremony in London on Wednesday 30 November. The evening, hosted by BBC newsreader Sophie Raworth and which was also attended by HRH The Countess of Wessex and survival expert, Ray Mears, recognised many inspirational first aid success stories of individuals, businesses and communities across the UK.

The site often relies on Chris to provide First Aid cover at special events and we are all proud of his achievement.

Chariot Race 2011 Results

Well, the Chariot Race is over for another year. Very well done to all the teams who took part. Again the weather was wet but this did not deter the teams from producing some excellent performances.

Thank you for taking part and we hope to see you all again next year.

New Toilet Block Open !

We are very pleased to announce that the new toilet block was officially opened at the Chariot Race weekend and has been well received by campers. The new block consists of individual cubicles of toilets and showers including disabled facilities. Also contained in the building is a Pot Wash facility. It is also heated for those colder months !

The toilet block was designed with the environment in mind and makes use of a rainwater harvesting system.
